Exploring AI as Collaborator, Challenger, and Catalyst to Advance Teaching Excellence The third episode of the TEFLON series, “AI as Collaborator, Challenger, and Catalyst in the Classroom,” took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Teaching Excellence Forum & Learning Optimization Network (TEFLON) is a dynamic academic series dedicated to strengthening faculty teaching excellence and fostering innovative learning across SUNY Korea. Organized by Dr. Joseph Cabuay, Technology & Society Department professor, the event brought together faculty and community members to explore the evolving role of AI in teaching and learning. The program opened with a talk by Professor François Rameau from the Computer Science Department, who shared insights on the challenges of teaching programming in the era of large language models, followed by an engaging Q&A session. In the second session, English Language Program Professor Yeji Seok discussed how educators can embrace AI as a peer, partner, and colleague in the classroom, highlighting practical strategies for collaboration between humans and AI. The event offered a thought-provoking opportunity for the community to reflect on the future of education and the expanding role of AI in shaping learning experiences.

Professor Neal Dreamson Receives Incheon Mayor's Commendation for Fair Trade Contributions Professor Neal Dreamson received the Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor's Commendation at the '2025 Incheon Fair Trade Festival' on June 14, 2025. The festival, hosted and organized by Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Fair Trade Council, was held successfully on the afternoon of the 14th of June at the Songdo Central Park Lawn Square, with attendance by Incheon City Vice Mayor Hwang Hyo-jin, Incheon City Council Chairman Jeong Hae-kwon, and Incheon City Superintendent of Education Do Seong-hoon. The certificate of Commendation indicates that Professor Dreamson “has contributed greatly to the promotion of fair trade in Incheon Metropolitan City by actively participating in ethical consumption practices as well as raising awareness of fair trade”. Professor Dreamson serves as a member of the Incheon City Fair Trade Steering Committee, and he participates in establishing and promoting fair trade-related policies. In addition, he also serves as a member of the Incheon City Office of Education's 4th Industrial Revolution Education Promotion Committee, and as an outside director of the GM Employee Foundation Korea. In these roles, he has been actively promoting SUNY Korea in the community.

Professor Jongseong Brad Choi Leads EV Research Collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group Professor Jongseong Brad Choi, from the Mechanical Engineering Department at SUNY Korea, and his Mechanical Systems with Intelligence and Computer Vision (MEIC) Lab are conducting an industry-academia research project with Hyundai Motor Group, as reported on April 8th. Professor Choi’s research has been selected for the 2025 Future Technology Research Project (Future PoC Project), hosted by Hyundai Motor Group. This collaboration highlights the MEIC Lab’s dedication to cutting-edge research in AI-driven automotive technologies, and serves as a key achievement that demonstrates SUNY Korea’s research capabilities and academic excellence in the development of next-generation electric vehicle systems.
