‐ FIT Korea currently offers a two-year Associate’s Degree program. After receiving an Associate’s Degree, students may progress to the Bachelor’s Degree program and study for one or two more years at the New York campus or at the FIT campuses in Italy. Study duration at each campus may differ depending on the major.
· The required documents are a high school transcript; college or university transcripts (*if applicable); an admissions essay (up to 750 words); and an English proficiency test score (minimum score of TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, PTE 53, or Duolingo 105 required). Fashion Design applicants must submit a portfolio.
‐ Official English test scores must be no more than two years old from the date of application submission.
· The English proficiency test requirement can be waived for those who have completed four full-years of education in high schools where the medium of instruction is English, regardless of country or location (any semester with ESL course will be excluded from the year count).
· Nationality of an applicant or possession of residency in an English-speaking country does not waive the applicant from submitting the English proficiency test scores. The waiver will solely depend on the applicant’s high school records.
On the SUNY Korea FIT online application form, a scanned copy of the transcripts will suffice.
‐ Original copies of transcripts must be submitted in sealed, officially attested copies (bearing the stamp and signature of the school’s designated officer) directly to the Admissions Office of the New York campus. If you graduated from a non-English speaking country and your school did not follow an English-based curriculum,
‐ you are required to have your credentials evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (www.naces.org) before having them sent to the Admissions Office of FIT New York City.
‐ FIT NYC Admissions Office: Fashion Institute of Technology, Office of Admissions, Room C139 227 W. 27th St. New York City 10001-5992.
‐ The Admissions Office will accept electronic transcripts from the following approved vendors. Please contact your high school to check whether the transcript can be submitted electronically.
‐ There is no provisional admissions system at FIT. Applicants must be in possession of a valid English test score to be eligible to apply. Please consult with the FIT admissions specialist for more details.
‐ SAT and ACT test scores are not required for admissions purposes. They can, however, be used to waive English and Math placement exams at SUNY Korea FIT. To be waived from the placement exams, applicants must officially report their scores to FIT using the institution codes shown below.
‐ The scholarship and financial aid review process is conducted after the admission decision is made and only if the applicant has been offered admission. All incoming students are eligible to apply for scholarships and/or financial aid. However, please note that the deadline for scholarships and financial aid applications is the same as the admission application deadlines, so all applications should be submitted at the same time.
SUNY Korea currently offers Presidential Scholarships, Provost Scholarships, Merit Scholarships, Encouragement Awards, and financial aid to a select number of students in each department.
‐ The Fashion Design program has a specialized curriculum, with each class serving as a prerequisite to the next. It is therefore impossible to transfer in as a second-year student; all students have to start from the first year. In the case of Fashion Business Management, transfer availability varies depending on the applicant’s academic history and on the classes offered at SUNY Korea FIT.
Once the applicant is admitted and the admission deposit is paid, the applicant will receive confirmation information on the degree completion status and the estimated duration for degree completion.
