ACADEMIC HONOR CODE

POLICY STATEMENT Students who imitate or copy another person’s idea or written work and claim it as original, fail to master the knowledge and skills that they need for successful careers in their chosen fields. Students must also comply with the policy on collaboration established for each course, as set forth in the course syllabus or on the course website. Conduct that evidences any form of disrespect for the intellectual efforts of oneself or others or violates established collaboration policies will subject students to serious penalties.

Student Pledge

Winners think, feel and act differently than losers. You must look within yourself, strip away your illusions and change your old ways of being, thinking and acting. Change is hard, but if you want to be truly successful you have to work on being honest.

  • We are committed to complying with both the letter and the spirit of the academic honor code, school regulations and ethical standards that govern us.
  • Our actions must never be dictated by self-interest nor perceived as such. If we treat our faculty and school ethically and with respect, and provide them with high quality work, we will be successful.
  • We insist on honesty and integrity. We maintain high ethical standards, whether dealing with other students, our faculty, the school which we attend, the FIT community, and our work.
  • Professionalism is critical to our school. We are proud of our reputation for being the top design and fashion business programs in academia, for our hard work, the quality of the individuals who come out of our programs and the resultant quality of our designs and business projects.
  • Our most important assets are our minds and our reputation. Although our school would be adversely affected if we lost either, our reputation would be the more difficult to regain.
