Our Apparel Labs boast well-designed workstations that offers industry
standard facilities
to our students. These labs are strategically designed in two distinct formats of “Sewing
Labs” and
“Draping Labs” to optimize efficiency for all major courses. Each lab is equipped with
Working/Pattern
Tables, Industrial Sewing Machines, Overlock Sewing Machines, and Irons.
Tailored to the specific needs of each lab, specialized sewing machines
including
Buttonhole Machines, Heavy Sewing Machines, and Embroidery Machines are also available.
Beyond the
initial equipment setup, students can access Standard Draping Dress forms, Leg Dress forms,
Full Body
Dress forms, and mini Dress forms, enhancing their hands-on learning experience. Our campus
provides
students with these well-equipped labs to unleash their creativity and refine their skills.
Archives
FIT has a diverse range of archives, encompassing the Garment and Accessory Archive,
Fabric Archive, and Apparel Archive. These archival collections serve as valuable references for
courses. These storages also can be great option for students to borrow items they need for their club
projects and events.
Computer Lab
All the computers in these labs are equipped with the necessary programs tailored for FIT
students. This provides students with access to these programs during class time as well as after
classes, allowing them to work on their projects seamlessly.
Natural Dye Lab
This lab is crafted as a practical station for students to delve into the art of fabric
dyeing. Alongside the essential equipment available in this lab, an extensive array of natural pigments
is also supplied to enhance the overall learning experience.
Natural Dye Garden
The Natural Dye Garden, adorned with garden, serves as a primary source for the Natural Dye Lab and
NDGC Club. Students mostly cultivate and harvest indigo and marigold from this garden, utilizing these
natural resources to support their projects in Natural Dye.
Swatch Lab
Our textile lab serves as a resource hub where students can readily access a diverse range
of fabric swatches. Within this lab, an extensive selection of fabrics in various textures and colors is
provided for students' reference. Additionally, the lab is outfitted with a Weaving Machine as well as a
Knitting Machine, helping students experience the processes of textile design and manufacture.
Textile Lab
Textile labs, complete with tools like microscopes, provide a high-standard environment
for studies related to textiles. In addition, a well-equipped Dyeing and Quality Evaluation lab offers
students the opportunity to experience textile manufacturing at an industry level.
