Blessing Blossoms

Hat Exhibition

September 2021 – December 2021

Blessing Blossoms

The flower has been an important motif and theme in the fashion scene. Not only flowers became a seasonal trend on the catwalks but are used in the decorations of a show venue, and of course, in the actual designs creating drama and livening up our lives. Just by seeing the flowers depicted on fabric or morphed as part of the ornaments of clothing, our mood gets uplifted. Through the expressive methods of blooming and falling flowers delivered as print, paint, and embroidery, every season of human emotions such as joys and sorrows, passion, love, gratitude, and blessings are brought to life.
Blessing Blossoms will unfold and explore the roles of flowers as a means of human expressions and inspire hope through the beauty of blooming flowers which has also been one of the essential roles of flowers.

3. Bare Top Long Dress 'Blooming Flower' 1995 Jang Dong-rim

Dresses full of flowers are attractive giving off their own fragrance.
Excitement, hope, and sometimes overwhelming passion in those flowers are radiating.
They bring our hearts to life again which have been in despair due to COVID-19.

This exhibition shows hats and headpieces that will go well with various dresses with a theme of “Blessing Blossoms.”
I worked on them with an aim of highlighting the dresses and contributing to perfection of the outfits as a whole.
I hope that an armful of flowers will bloom in many people’s hearts.

I owe a deep debt of gratitude towards Director of The SUNY Korea Museum of Modern Costume, Hei-soon Shin, and also express my appreciation to all the people who have tried so hard to prepare for this exhibition.
